Before, plan, after
Every KMR kitchen moves through the same three stages. Here is this one, start to finish.
1. Before
White cabinets that stopped short of the ceiling, brown granite counters and no central work surface.
2. The plan
The new layout was modeled in 3D first, so the island, appliance positions and cabinet runs were settled on screen instead of on site.
3. After
Cabinets to the ceiling, a center island with seating, a stainless chimney hood and counters that carry up the wall.
Why was the layout settled in 3D first?
Because cabinet orders lock in the dimensions. Custom cabinetry can take ten weeks or more to arrive, so a layout change after the order costs weeks, while the same change on a drawing costs nothing.
Modeling the kitchen first let the homeowner see the island size, the walkways around it and where each appliance would land before demolition started. Once the layout was approved, selections were locked and the cabinets ordered, which is what keeps the on-site schedule from slipping.
What changed in the finished kitchen?
- White shaker cabinets run to the ceiling, adding upper storage and removing the dust shelf above the old boxes.
- A new center island adds a second work surface and casual seating.
- A stainless chimney hood sits over the range.
- Veined white counters carry up the wall as a matching backsplash.
- Stainless appliances throughout, with the refrigerator set into the cabinet run.

What people ask about kitchen remodels in Boynton Beach
What is a realistic budget for a kitchen remodel?
It depends most on whether the layout changes. Keeping the sink, range and refrigerator where they are costs far less than moving them. This Boynton Beach kitchen, with a new layout and a center island, landed in the $75,001 to $100,000 range. A refresh that keeps the layout and replaces counters, fixtures and finishes costs a fraction of that.
What is the average cost to remodel a kitchen in Florida?
There is no single Florida number worth planning around, because kitchen size, layout changes and finish level move the total far more than the state does. In Palm Beach County, permits and condo or HOA rules can also add time and cost. The reliable number is a written estimate built from your kitchen's measurements and your selections.
Is $10,000 enough to renovate a kitchen?
For a cosmetic update, it can be: paint, hardware, a new faucet, lighting, or new counters in a small kitchen. It is not enough for new cabinets, a new layout or anything that moves plumbing or wiring, which also brings a permit into play.
What is the 30% rule in remodeling?
It is a rule of thumb that cabinetry takes about 30 percent of a kitchen remodel budget, the largest single line in most projects. That is why the cabinet line you choose moves the total more than almost any other decision. Treat it as a planning guide, not a price.
How long does a kitchen remodel like this take in Boynton Beach?
A remodel that changes the layout typically runs eight to twelve weeks on site, with city permit review adding several weeks before work starts. Cabinet lead times and mid-project design changes are what most often stretch the schedule, which is why the layout and selections are locked before demolition.
Do you need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Boynton Beach, FL?
If plumbing, gas lines or electrical circuits move, yes. That work needs a building permit and city inspections before the walls are closed. A straight swap of cabinets and counters that leaves the plumbing and wiring where they are is a smaller job, but any layout change like the island on this project brings the permit into play.
